Since U.S. President Donald Trump has supported the ceasefire negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia that led to the end of hostilities on July 28, Cambodian citizens have expressed their gratitude to him, with some mentioning that he should be selected for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in ending the conflict.
An image of Trump with a hashtag and several messages of support was widely shared on social networks, with the public expressing support for the U.S. leader's apparent attention to the lives of the Cambodian people and Thailand#TrumpForPeacePrize#PresidentOfPeace#ThanksTrump.
I express my gratitude and admiration to U.S. President Donald Trump for intervening in the historic conflict between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Cambodia."
He adds: "Without the president, the two countries will continue to fight each other, and the people of both countries will continue to lose more lives."
Along with Haute, images of Mr. Trump and images of the impact of clashes between the two neighboring countries, images of displaced children and refugees were widely shared, along with calls for him to be selected for the Nobel Prize.
