H.E. Mr. Uino Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia (Kantri) at the handing over ceremony of ancient instruments to the Fine Arts Secondary School on 10 December 2024.
The Embassy of Japan in Cambodia December 10 handed over classical musical instruments to the Fine Arts Secondary School under the grant of the KUSANONE Project.
The handover of these ancient tools was conducted by H.E. Mr. Uino Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Hat Tuch, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, with the participation of 400 students and professors from the Fine Arts Secondary School.
Since 1991, in addition to large-scale loans and various grant projects, the Government of Japan has been implementing the Kusanone Project throughout Cambodia to directly assist local authorities and NGOs that are implementing their projects."
The handover of the ancient instruments was made at the request of the Fine Arts Secondary School, with the Government of Japan providing a budget of US$38,750 for the provision of classical musical instruments for the students at the Fine Arts Secondary School to use.
Mr. Uino continued: "Now, with more classical musical instruments being offered, I expect that the students at the Fine Arts Secondary School will be able to train more often to strengthen their technical skills. In addition, I hope that these devices will contribute to the preservation of Cambodia's ancient culture, which will give us a more beautiful life."
According to Mr. Uino, in the last 34 years, the Embassy of Japan has contributed to about 700 projects through the Kusano Grant Program, of which 10 projects are related to cultural and sports issues.
