More than 5,000 cubic meters of seized timber worth nearly half a million dollars will be put up for public auction!!!

Phnom Penh: More than 5,000 cubic meters of forest products seized in the past will be announced for public auction early next month with a basic value equivalent to nearly half a million US dollars. The Commission for Review, Evaluation and Auction or Consultation on All Types of Means of Transport and Forest Products has informed that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will submit to the public auction the forest products that are the objects of the offences along the storage locations of the Forest Administration Inspectorate and the Forest Administration District. The commission said that in the public auction, there was a total volume of more than 5,365 cubic meters of mixed timber and a number of other forest products, with a basic value equivalent to a total amount of 1,825,138,988 rials. The Commission has prepared documents for customers to participate in the auction and put them up for sale at the Forest Administration at 40 Preah Norodom Blvd., Sangkat Pla Klang 2, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh from December 9, 2024, onwards every working hour. The completed bid documents must be submitted to the Forestry Administration (Department of Administration, Planning and Finance) no later than 27 December 2024 at 17:00 hrs. The opening of the tender proposal will take place at the Ministry of Agriculture, 200 Preah Norodom Blvd., Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Cham Karmon, Phnom Penh at 9 a.m. on January 8, 2025. The Commission stated that clients who are allied together or have a single source can submit a unique bid proposal. Regarding the forestry work, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Tina also instructed the Forest Administration to seal the conservation and development of forest and wildlife resources and participate in preventing forest land grabbing more effectively by putting the national interest at large. The directive was made while presiding over the opening ceremony of the 2024 Forestry Work Summary Meeting and the 2025 Implementation Direction at the Ministry of Agriculture on December 12. Mr. Soan Sovann, Deputy Vice President in charge of Forest Administration, reported to the meeting on the achievements in the forestry sector in 2024.
