Missing the army near the pagoda on one of the last trees that mysteriously attract tourists!!!!

Phnom Penh NEWS: The large flora in Phnom Penh is an interesting habitat for a rare species of animal that has been colonizing for a very long time, the crested animal, whose presence is even listed on Google Maps.

These giant fruit shrews are known for their wingspan of up to 1.5 meters, and their presence near the Wat Phnom Historical Resort attracts both national and international tourists enjoying the city's ecosystem.

Recently, however, the presence of troops climbing a large tree on the premises of the Council for the Development of Cambodia has mysteriously disappeared, making many wonder what happened to them.

Over the years, visitors to the monastery have been fascinated by the spectacle of thousands of lizards sleeping on large trees.

Tourists often stop to take photos of those wild animals, which is an important part of the city's unique environmental landscape.

Some think that the disappearance may be the result of the actions of local authorities, although there is no official confirmation yet.

Jab Dina, Deputy Governor of Daun Penh District Governorate, said that the disappearance of the herds at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) near the Wat Phnom Temple did not mean that anyone was coming to chase them away.

He stated: "These reptiles have been there for a long time, no one has touched them, even though they are noisy and smelly, but it is also an aesthetic that attracts national and international tourists."

However, he mentioned that the felling of a large tree a long time ago, which deprived him of an important habitat for the reptiles, he did not know if it was for the purpose of expelling the reptiles.

He told the Phnom Penh Post: "Not only the pigeons but even the pigeons in front of the royal palace are also attacked by the elephants, as they are always surprised when they see the presence of the elephants, which makes them afraid and disappear."

Zoologist Joe Ralston, Senior Research Coordinator for the World Conservation Society (WCS), said in 1999 that Phnom Penh is the only capital city in Asia with a large herd of reptiles in the heart of the cityscape, which makes it unique.

Mr. Ralston gave an interview to Phnom Penh Post at the time: "Phnom Penh is the only capital in Asia with a large squirrel in the city center, except for Rangoon."

The large tree that once served as a shelter for these winged creatures now stands quietly, its trunks devoid of creeping animals.

However, he also warned of the threat to these reptiles, citing habitat destruction and harassment in other parts of Southeast Asia.

Researcher Gábor Csorba, quoted by Flaura & Flora, said: "These reptiles are increasingly deprived of habitat and lead to contamination of their safety."
