Phnom Penh NEWS: Officers of the Lost Rod Provincial Police Department have found and detained a suspect named Ekkalak Pheanol, a Thai national, at the point of Prey Sweai Village, Kum Prey Sweai, Mong or Si District, Lost Stick Province.
The arrest was made in response to a request for cooperation and information provided by the Thai Police and the suspect was detained by the Cambodian National Police at 13:50 on January 8.
According to a statement, a spokesperson for the General Commissioner of the National Police Department said: "The suspect will be sent back to Thailand at the request of the Thai Police in accordance with the law after the Cambodian National Police completes the procedure."
The murder of Lim Kim Ya, a male born in 1951, a Khmer national, and a French national, by an unidentified gunman at 17:45 on 07 January 2025 at 13 Hang Street, Sangkat Buren, Niwet Vicha, Khan Preah Narkorn, Bangkok, Thailand.
After the incident occurred, Thai authorities conducted research and identified the above suspect, born in 1983, a former military crew member, residing in Khan Bangna, Bangkok.
According to the statement, after the operation, the suspect fled from Bangkok, heading towards the province bordering Cambodia, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
