Phnom Penh News: At least two Chinese criminals have been arrested in an operation to crack down on cases of kidnapping women and forcing them into suitcases to extort money, according to the Criminal Police Department's Facebook page on January 30, 2025.
According to the above source, on January 13, 2025, at the Nou Di Si Hotel, Sangkat Teung Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, there was a case of abducting the victim named HO THI LUONG, a 37-year-old Vietnamese woman, into a suitcase to extort money. The incident was caused by a group of unidentified Chinese people.
After the above incident occurred on January 26, 2025, the expert forces identified and located the above suspect, then led the expert forces to rescue the victim, a Chinese woman, and arrested two suspects at Borey Pipu Thmei Kou Sov 3, Sangkat Roluos, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
The above suspects confessed that three of them had kidnapped Chinese and Vietnamese women and put them in suitcases to extort money in six cases. The above suspects are currently being investigated by the Criminal Police Department and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for prosecution.
At the same time, the Criminal Police Department would like to remind and call on all guesthouses and hotels to immediately report to the authorities when they see people carrying large suitcases in an unusual manner.
