After the peace agreement that Thailand and Cambodia signed on October 26, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that Thailand would temporarily suspend the implementation of the agreement following a landmine incident near the border that injured Thai soldiers.
According to reports from international media, The Diplomat and Asian News Network, the Thai Prime Minister stated, “Thailand will act independently and do what is best for the nation. Peace has been restored.”
This statement was confirmed following a case of mine explosions in Si Sa Ket province, which is near the border with Oddar Meanchey province in Cambodia. The incident caused two Thai soldiers to suffer serious injuries.
The Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia issued a statement denying that any new mines had been laid, explaining that "the mines are old ones left over from past wars."
The ministry called on Thailand to conduct a joint investigation with international experts to clearly determine the origin of the mines.

Cambodia: Stated that "maintaining peace at the border is crucial" and has continued official contacts between the two militaries to avoid further misunderstandings.
