The increase in tourist arrivals is noteworthy, as confirmed by Mr. Sok Chan Krishna, Head of the Koh Kong Provincial Tourism Department, who told Dap Ampil News that in the past, the Royal Government renovated National Road No. 48 beautifully, making it easy to travel. In addition, the construction of National Road No. 10, a national highway connecting Koh Kong Province to the Phum Prek area, linking the 1500 Mountain region and several provinces such as Pursat, Battambang, Pailin, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, and Oddar Meanchey, is an attractive route that allows domestic and international tourists to visit Koh Kong Province, connecting cultural areas to the coastal regions.
In this regard, Mr. Sok Chan Krith Sena stated, “The new infrastructure and achievements on these two national roads have made Koh Kong Province, in 2025, see more than 800,000 visitors in just 10 months. Over the past period, the Ministry of Tourism, as well as the Koh Kong Provincial Department of Tourism, has promoted the Green Season tourism campaign. We see that in this approximate 10-month period, the number of tourists visiting Koh Kong Province has increased significantly, coinciding with the completion of National Roads 48 and 10, which have attracted even more visitors.”
In response, the head of the provincial tourism department confirmed that the department has an annual tourism development plan for 2021-2025 to help further boost the tourism sector. This includes participating in initiatives to improve the quality of tourism services, studying the market, and promoting tourism by the department, as well as developing human resources in the tourism sector. It also encourages investment in tourism by promoting incentives for investors to come to Koh Kong Province.
