Often compared to a Rolls-Royce Phantom because of its elegant styling and lavish interior, the new Chinese luxury EV is attracting global attention for combining cutting-edge features with a significantly lower price tag.
Luxury Design Meets High-Tech Innovation
The 18-foot-long luxury sedan features sweeping two-tone paintwork, gold accents, premium leather seating, ambient lighting, and a star-like ceiling inspired by elite European luxury vehicles.
Inside the cabin, passengers are treated to an impressive 40-inch entertainment display paired with nearly 40 speakers, transforming the rear seats into a private mobile cinema experience.
The vehicle also includes:

The luxury EV is powered by technology developed by Huawei, while production takes place in Hefei through cooperation with JAC Motors.
A New Threat to Traditional Luxury Brands
Chinese automakers have already become major players in the affordable EV market, but the Maextro S800 signals a major push into the premium luxury segment traditionally dominated by brands like Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.
Industry experts say China’s strategy differs from traditional luxury automakers by focusing heavily on advanced technology, digital experiences, and futuristic features rather than heritage alone.
Automotive analyst Thomas Luk described the vehicle as:
“A maxed-out luxury car at an affordable price.”
Premium Features at a Lower Price
Fully equipped versions of the luxury sedan reportedly cost around £130,000, while lower-spec models start near £77,000 — far below the price of many ultra-luxury European competitors.
The combination of luxury and affordability has helped the car gain strong momentum in China’s domestic market.
According to Huawei, more than 17,000 units have already been delivered since launch, with buyers including wealthy entrepreneurs and corporate executives using the vehicle as a chauffeur-driven limousine.
Huawei Expands Beyond Smartphones
The project also highlights Huawei’s growing ambitions beyond consumer electronics and smartphones.
The company’s software now powers:
Autonomous driving systems
Smart cabin technology
Voice and gesture controls
Entertainment and navigation systems
Huawei executives have hinted that even more expensive ultra-premium models could launch soon, potentially costing over £225,000.
Global Expansion Faces Challenges
Although the Maextro S800 is currently sold only in China, Huawei has expressed interest in international expansion.
However, geopolitical tensions and restrictions involving Huawei technology may complicate plans to enter markets such as the United States.
Despite those challenges, China’s luxury EV industry continues to grow rapidly, showing that the country is no longer focused only on budget vehicles but is now competing directly with some of the world’s most prestigious automotive brands.
