Phnom Penh News:
Billionaire and US President Elon Musk's SpaceX is studying the feasibility of bringing the Starlink high-speed satellite internet to Cambodia.
According to the Prime Minister's social media, on the morning of February 20, 2025, Ms. Rebecca Hunter, Marketing Officer of SpaceX – Starlink, met with the Prime Minister about the matter.
She affirmed that Cambodia is a high-priority destination for the company's investment in 2025.
The Prime Minister's social media post: "The President also highlighted the Royal Government's policy in developing the technology sector to respond to the rapid evolution of technology at present."
He also encouraged her, the company's representative, to continue to liaise and discuss with Cambodia's relevant ministries and institutions to promote the search for investment opportunities in Cambodia.
Rebecca Hunter posted on LinkedIn: "Keep expanding Starlink! Demonstrating our commitment to bringing Starlink high-speed internet to some of the most remote regions in the world, please join me in celebrating services in our new market that should not be forgotten and also require high-quality internet access."
It is worth mentioning that entrepreneur Chan Star became the first to bring Starlink's high-speed internet system privately to remote areas to create smart agriculture.
Mr Star said: "High-speed internet will benefit farmers through enabling access to the entire IOT device, drone control system, and agricultural tasks, facilitating many processes as well as reducing procedures that were previously required."
"My aim is to create an ecosystem for technology and agricultural innovation where entrepreneurs and students can get the latest technology and support to launch their own businesses," he told Phnom Penh Post.
